Psalm 66

Submitted to God #

Psalm 66:1-7

Introduction

There are some pretty clear breaks in this Psalm as you read it and study it.

Being submitted to God doesn’t come naturally, or without effort. We find two completely different reasons for being submitted to God, based on where they start from. You only fit into one of two categories, you are a born-again child of God, or you are not. There is no middle ground. You are saved, or you are not saved.

Joy in the LORD #

Psalm 67:1-7

Introduction

The Psalm, is certainly a victorious Psalm, much like we would sing Victory in Jesus, A Mighty Fortress, Faith is the Victory, He is Able to Deliver Thee, or Stand Up- Stand UP for Jesus, it is a song of deliverance, joy, gladness, and praise to God for the victory given.

I. A Prayer Delivered (1) #

A. Mercy “be merciful unto us” #

1. No one is deserving! #

2. We request mercy, not receiving what we do deserve. #

B. Blessings – #

1. We ought to recognize God’s Blessings #

Ephesians 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:

Mark 6:45

Consider God’s Work #

Mark 6:45-53

Introduction

As we continue our study in the Gospel of Mark, there is a lot to see in this passage. This passage is parallel passage of the one recorded in Matthew, however Mark doesn’t bring up the fact that Peter walked on water. It was an amazing thing that happened, however, it was not the be the focal point of this account. In other words, there are other lessons that can be learned from this passage, more than the fact that Peter walked on the water!

Marching to Victory #

Psalm 68:1-3

Introduction

We have a lengthy Psalm before us, in which we will not be able to touch every verse of it, much less every phrase. It is a full Psalm, with many messages that could be brought from it. We will limit ourselves to one simple message from the Psalm as we trek on through the forest of the Psalms.

Parents and the Home #

Pro 6:20-35

I. Parental Concern (Pro 6:20-23) #

Parents

It takes a Father and Mother to make a home!

Break down in society, breakdown of the home.

The ugly truth about divorce, it breaks a home!

I know we have divorced people in here. Let me try to help those who don’t bare those scars for a moment.

A. Lock - bind, tie (21) #

  1. These are to be bound in our heart!

Mark 6:54

Tale of Two Cities: One Christ. #

Mark 6:54-56

Introduction

The Gospel of Mark is action packed. We go from one episode, straight into another. There is a such an amazing portrait of the Saviour written by Mark. Jesus is portrayed as the great servant, going from one place to another in full ministry mode.

As a waitress would go from table to table, and serve people, Jesus travels from town to town serving people everywhere he goes. Serving complete strangers, family, the disciples, everyone he meets, he desires to serve them. It is quite amazing to see Jesus in that light, also knowing and realizing He is the King of Kings, and Lord of Lords… Jesus, in great humility serves!

Prophecies of the Messiah #

Psalm 69

Introduction

Shoshannim means lilies, and it is in reference to the spring time and the passover. It is a very prophetic Psalm. Spurgeon says of it

“In the forty-fifth they were golden lilies, dropping sweet smelling myrrh, and blooming in the fair gardens which skirt the ivory palaces: in this we have the lily among thorns, the lily of the valley, fair and beautiful, blooming in the garden of Gethsemane.”

Mark 7:1

Defining the Final Authority #

Mark 7:1-13

Introduction

We have a showdown again between Jesus and the Pharisees. They simply cannot leave well enough alone the Lord Jesus Christ. He was winning the hearts of the people, and they were being left behind. Their influence, their position, their authority, was all being threatened by Jesus presence.

These were not interested in truth, they were interested in maintaining their prestige, the position, and their prominence among the people.

Revelation 7 #

Revelation 7:1-4

Introduction

We ended our last study on the sixth seal. As Chapter 7 opens, it is often referred to as a parenthetical. The idea of the seals being opened is put on pause, and this chapter now introduces us to two groups of people. So we will look at these two groups of people and make some notes of them.

Importance of the Word #

Proverbs 7:1-5

Intro.

These first few verses stress the importance of the Word of God. Again, we see the introduction, “My son”, once again as a father to a son. It is fair to take this as the Father, to you, his child.
