What Does God See? #

Proverbs 15:3

Intro.

What does God see? If we could be mindful of this in our life all the time, it would be of great value and benefit to the way we live our life from day to day.

I. Power of Words (1,2,3a) #

A. Soft Words - (1) #

Doesn’t imply a weak or compromising answer.

Jesus often gave a soft answer when dealing with the Pharisees who came accusing Jesus in attempts to trap Him.

Tone of voice (1) #

Sometimes, we need to consider what we sound like!

Talking to my dog,

Happy tone: “You are a dumb little dog.”

Angry tone: “Mocha, you are the nicest dog.”

I remember watching a preacher, going through a hard time, people came angry yelling at him, he responded, in a soft answer… Let’s talk about this.

David’s response to the anger of Saul… was always calm

If you are angry on the inside, it will come out through the mouth, we must learn to live in control. Ask God for help!

Illustration:

A man talking with a friend, said he left a church because the preacher while preaching, told lost people they were going to Hell.

His friend, slightly puzzled, asked him, “Doesn’t the church where you go now preach that lost people are going to Hell, too?”

He replied, “Yes, but the last church seemed glad people were going to hell, the preacher at this church says the same thing, but is actually concerned about it.”

B. Slighting words (1) “grievous words” #

There are words, that are not helpful, and meant as hurtful.

Grievous words, would be words, that are meant in a hurtful manner.

In politics, many of the words they use against one another are just offensive words designed to merely malign one’s character.

Shooting their own wounded… Sadly, in christianity, people are quick to slander, cast out people who fall.

Grievous words don’t come out of a heart of compassion.

C. Sure Words - Information (2) - Wise use of the tongue #

Useth - It is given, not just stored

a) 1Pet. 3:15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear: 16 ¶ Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ.17 For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing.

Use the knowledge that you have! Much good can be done if we would
use what we know.

Knowledge used right -

Knowledge is simply information, it is a tool.

Knowledge of the Bible, and the ultimate tool of information can be
used correctly and incorrectly!

Preach salvation through Jesus Christ.

Others would take the Word of God and use it for their benefit!

(1) 2Cor. 4:2 But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty,
not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God
deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending
ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God.

D. Spewing words (2) “poureth out foolishness” #

Why is it, Gossip spreads like wildfire, while the Gospel remains hidden?

Fools have no problem spewing forth words, and information, true or not to those around them.

Think before you speak!

II. Presence of God (3) #

A. Motivation not to sin #

What if your mom followed you around! -

People are often careful not to swear around a preacher

  1. John 16:8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:

Carry Gospel tracts, Carry a NT or Bible around with you.

You expect us to be christian 7 days a week!

    God sees what you do!

B. Motivates us to do right #

God sees when you do right!

Sometimes, when you do right, it seems completely oblivious to anyone around you.

It goes unnoticed, and doesn’t make a difference.

No need to promote your actions

a) Matt. 6:2 Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, [They have their reward.]{.underline}

b) Matt. 6:5 ¶ And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, [They have their reward.]{.underline}

c) Matt. 6:16 ¶ Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, [They have their reward.]{.underline}

**[Let God reward you!]{.underline}**

Noah did right in the eyes of the Lord... he was years building the
ark... seemingly unnoticed, un-rewarded.

III. Perverse Way- Turning. #

Perverse - Literally, turned aside; hence, distorted from the right. - Websters 1828.

Perverse has a common association with perversity in a sexual sense, which is not incorrect, but the bottom line is it means, turned aside, distorted from the right.

A. Wholesome Tongue #

The wholesome tongue is going to take God’s Word (knowledge) and use it aright, to help

Evangelize the Sinner

Educate the Saved

Edify the Saint

B. Wounding Tongue “breach in the spirit” #

When we stop ministering, and using our tongue for good, it becomes a ‘breach in the spirit’. A Breaking of the right spirit or attitude for a believer!

Our focus is off, and our life becomes off kilter.

Breaks your own spirituality - “breach in the spirit” -

You cannot be right with God, and hold bitterness in your life.

a) Heb. 12:15 Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled;

Bitterness hurts the person holding it

Bitterness hurts those around you!

Prov. 15:3 ¶ The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.
