Actions have Consequences #
Romans 5:12, 18-21
Introduction
The message is simple tonight, but I believe it is important for us to grasp the great truth in this chapter.
I. Offense Caused #
A. Judgement (18) #
- judgement - the process of examining facts and arguments, to ascertain propriety and justice
Heb. 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
- At this judgement, we already know the outcome!
B. Condemnation (18) #
Rev 20:11-13
1. Condemnation based on their works! (12, 13) #
2. No works can save you! #
Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
3. Standing before God for your sins, condemnation is certain! #
- Standing before God without forgiveness, you are hopelessly condemned for all eternity!
C. Death (12) (Rev 20:14-15) #
- Born once, die twice; born twice, die once.
- The second death, is eternal condemnation in the lake of fire!
II. Obedience Offers #
A. Justification (18) #
- Freedom from the penalty, power, and presence of sin!
- justification - it is the judicial act of God, by which he pardons all the sins of those who believe in Christ, and accounts, accepts, and treats them as righteous in the eye of the law (Easton's Bible Dict)
1. Freedom from the Penalty of sin! #
Rom. 8:1 ¶ There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
2. Freedom from the Power of sin #
Gal. 5:1 ¶ Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
3. Freedom from the Presence of sin (heaven) #
B. Grace in Life (20) #
- Condemned people, have done nothing deserving of a gift, and yet, God offers a ‘free gift’ that is grace! (18)
- Grace to live a changed life! - Not to continue in sin!
John 8:11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.
- We sing, “Grace greater than all my sins!”
C. Grace of Eternal Life (21) #
- When is the end of eternal?
III. Our Obedience #
A. Personal Salvation #
B. Others Saved! #
We are commanded to Go!
Matt. 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
- Will you obey?
- Will you be saved?
- Will you go and tell others?
