Aid for the Afflicted #

Psalm 94:1-7

Introduction

Psalm 94, like the one before it, has no title, or author listed. However, it is not needed, for it is a timeless Psalm, that transcends a specific problem, person, or place. It is fitting for today, and our needs in our life time. It is fitting for every generation, in all places.

I. Alarm of the Saint (1-7) #

A. Recognition of God’s vengeance (1) #

1. Vengeance belongs to God! #

    • Vengeance - Punishment inflicted in return for an injury or an offense; retribution; — often, in a bad sense, passionate or unrestrained revenge.

    Rom. 12:19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give

place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.

  • Stand, make your self seen “Lift up thyself”

  • Even in verses 1, “shew thyself” – time to take action!

Psa. 11:4 ¶ The LORD is in his holy temple, the LORD’S throne is in heaven: his eyes behold, his eyelids try, the children of men.

Isaiah 10:5–6 “5 O Assyrian, the rod of mine anger, and the staff in their hand is mine indignation. 6 I will send him against an hypocritical nation, and against the people of my wrath will I give him a charge, to take the spoil, and to take the prey, and to tread them down like the mire of the streets.”
