Victory with God #

Psalm 76:1-12

Introduction

We have a victorious Psalm before us tonight!

Romans 8:37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

As Christians we are on the winning side! Not every battle is going to go our way, not every day is going to be a great day, but understand, the war, is already won through Jesus Christ! In the end, we win!

I. Place of Victory (1-2) #

A. Country - Known to those in Judah #

1. Nation divided #

2. Israel - #

B. City - Salem = Jeru-SALEM – hebrew shalem #

Genesis 14:18 And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God.

Hebrews 7:1 For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him;

2. Presence #

C. Application #

1. Our Church should be known as a place to Worship God, and the presence of God #

2. Your home & Family should be known as a family that worships God, and that has the presence of God! #

II. Power of Victory (3-6) #

  • God gave a great display of power (2 Kngs 19:34-36)

A. Victory through Prayer! (3) #

1. Hezekiah went to God’s house, and prayed! #

2. Never underestimate the power of Prayer! #

B. Victory through God’s Strength (4) #

C. Victory while they slept! (5-6) #

III. Principles Of Victory (7-11) #

A. God is to be feared (7) #

1. God is literally to be feared! #

2. God’s Wrath “who may stand in thy sight when once thou art angry?” #

B. God will judge (8-9) #

1. 8 – “Thou didst cause judgment to be heard from heaven;” #

2. “all the meek of the earth” #

Matt. 11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

C. God will be praised (10) #

1. In wrath, man clenches his fist… firms his feet, all in vain! #

D. God will be paid (11) #

IV. Preeminence of God (12) #

A. God is more powerful than any prince or king #

B. He is able to overthrow them #

  • Terrible - 1. Adapted or likely to excite terror, awe, or dread; dreadful; formidable.
