Dealing with the Ugly Monster of Sin #
Psalm 32:1-11
Introduction
This Psalm opens up with a bold statement that we will consider and look at more at the end of the chapter than we will at the beginning. There are some great statements in the opening that should be considered.
This Psalm primarily deals with sin. This is something that EVERY believer can associate with, because as saved believers, we should NOT enjoy sin, and yet we are not, and will not be sinless until we get to heaven! So it is a topic we are all familiar with!
I. Concealment (3) #
A. Natural to hide sin! #
Prov. 28:13 ¶ He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.
1. Adam and Eve hid! - tried to cover their sin! - leaves #
2. Cain after killing Abel didn’t answer God’s Question #
Gen. 4:9 ¶ And the LORD said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother? And he said, I know not: Am I my brother’s keeper?
3. David & Bathsheba – major, elaborate coverup #
B. Nothing hid from God! #
Num. 32:23 But if ye will not do so, behold, ye have sinned against the LORD: and be sure your sin will find you out.
1. You may be able to fool man… you cannot fool God #
Gal. 6:7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
II. Conviction (4) Selah #
A. Hiding sin from God is futile! #
1. Adam and Eve were not successful #
2. Cain was not successful, David was not successful #
B. Hiding sin from God makes you miserable #
III. Confession (5) Selah #
A. Acknowledgement #
1. It is sin #
2. David admits, I’m wrong! #
B. Admission “my sin” #
1. Fault is claimed #
C. Acceptance “I will confess my transgression unto the LORD” #

IV. Courage (6-7) Selah #
A. Pray to God while He may be found! (6) #
1. In the floods – judgement, reference to Noah? #
B. Courage to take refuge in God! (7) #
V. Choice (8-9) #
A. God desires to instruct us! “I will instruct thee” #
1. Humility accepts instruction #
2. Fools reject instruction, and think they are right! #
Prov. 12:15 ¶ The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that hearkeneth unto counsel is wise.
B. God desires to GUIDE us! (8) #
C. God desires us to Chose wisely! (9) #
1. Horse is forced into subjection #
2. God wants us to CHOSE! #
VI. Conclusion (1-2, 10-11) #
A. Wicked = sorrow! (10) #
1. We are studying the woes of the tribulation period, the judgement of God falling on the wicked! #
B. Mercy! (10) #
C. Joy & Rejoicing! (11) #
D. Blessings! (1) Forgiven, covered #
1. Our sin is forgiven! #
2. Our debt was paid “whose sin is covered.” #
3. Our debt was erased – “imputeth not” #
