God’s Plan #
Psalm 87:1-7
Introduction
The first read of this Psalm creates more questions than answers. It’s meaning, and understanding are not warn on the sleeve, but rather buried deep within its words and meaning. There is great depth, and I don’t know that I will fully bring it all to the table though I will attempt to do so. It is a brilliant Psalm, with great truth.
I. A Place (1-3) #
A. Records (3) “glorious things are spoken of thee” #
1. Rome is a historic city, center of Catholicism 1.3Bil #
2. Mecca is a historic city, center of Muslim – 1.9Bil #
3. Jerusalem is the center of “christianity” 2.5 billion, (which includes catholicism, also significant for muslims) #
B. Regarded by God (2) #
1. In addition to being a very historic place it is loved by God! #
2. Why is it loved by God? #
C. Relevant to God! (1) “His foundation” #
1. Seed - Abraham – God’s chosen (Genesis 12:1-4a) #
2. Sacrifice - Isaac (Genesis 22:2) What mount?? #
3. Solomon builds Jerusalem: #
2Chr. 3:1 ¶ Then Solomon began to build the house of the LORD at Jerusalem in mount Moriah, where the LORD appeared unto David his father, in the place that David had prepared in the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite.
II. A People (4-6) #

Phrase “This and that man was born in her”
- Her is Jerusalem – while this could reference a physical birth, I’m sure it references a spiritual birth!
1. It is not a coincidence that Jesus said to Nicodemus: #
John 3:7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.

Luke 10:20 Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.

III. A Promise (7) #
A. Sounds of Jubilee “singers as the players on instruments” #
1. Some people in this world are gifted with great voices! #
