Hope for the Righteous #
Psalm 64:1-10
Introduction
Many of the Psalms are based on the affliction of good people. This Psalm is no different. There are many reasons, many times that righteous people suffer through no fault of their own!
I. The Request (1-2) #
A. Hear - “Hear my voice” #
1. As Christians we can ALWAYS go to God #
1 Peter 5:7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
2. There is an open door! #
Philippians 4:6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
B. Hold my life - “Preserve my life from fear” #
C. Hide me! “Hide me” #
1. “the secret counsel of the wicked” #
2. “workers of iniquity” #
II. The Report (3-6) #
A. Speech (3) #
1. “Whet their tongue” – sharpening their tongue, putting together the right story. #
James 3:5 Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth! 6 And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.
2. “Bend their bow” #
- It is about being prepared… that is what they are doing.
