Romans 2:1

Righteous Judgement #

Rom 2:1-2

Introduction

In Romans 1, we find that it more directly addresses the gentile heathen people. We find that God was revealed to them through creation, even with in them. At the same time they went out into sin. The Jewish reader of this chapter would be shouting Amen, because it wasn’t aimed at him. It was aimed at heathen people. Paul, now turns the cannon towards the Jewish people. You will recall, he intends to deal with both Jew and Gentile throughout the Book.

The Jews dealt with problems very distinct and different from that of the gentile. The gentile knew he was not acceptable to God. The Jew on the other hand, became prideful, knowing full well they were the chosen people of God! Having an established relationship with God. And yet, they still sinned, and turned their back on God. They became arrogant, thinking they were something special. Paul is about the prove this to them.

The christian world faces the same dangers and pitfalls of the religious Jewish people. We better heed the warning about becoming pious and self righteous.
