Final Judgement Day #
Revelation 20:11-15
Introduction
This passage is a very serious passage. It deals with the end of time as we know it, it deals with man standing before God to give account of his deeds. It is important that we understand this will absolutely take place, and every single day, it draws closer.
I. Facing the Lord (11-12) #
A. Deliverer (11) “him that sat on it” #
i. Who sits on that throne? That becomes an important topic. #
John 5:22 For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son:
ii. Jesus The Sacrifice - The one who made the way #
• It is bad enough to be on trial, and stand before God. It is worse, when you have to stand before the one, who hung on the cross, took your place... and you rejected HIS LOVE & GRACE. Eye to eye!
iii. Jesus The Saviour! #
Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
B. Dread (11) “flew away”, “found no place” #
i. You can run, but you can’t hide. #
• Adam found out, you cannot hide from God
• Noah found out you cannot run from God
• It is futile to run, it is impossible to hide.
ii. People are scared to face all powerful God. #
◦ Standing face to face with Him....
◦ They know they are wrong!
C. Dead (12a) “the dead, small and great” #
• Those who have accepted the loving, gracious pardon and forgiveness of Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour are not here.
i. No exceptions for kings, popular stars, or diplomatic immunity #
ii. No one too small to fly under the radar… #
II. Facts of Life (12-13) #
• The extent that man goes to cover his sin.
Mark 4:22 For there is nothing hid, which shall not be manifested; neither was any thing kept secret, but that it should come abroad.
A. Documented Evidence (12) “the books were opened” #
i. God’s Word - Document of morality #
ii. book of your actions - evidence, that is submitted. #
• Many people, are convinced in their heart, they are right. That doesn't make them right!
iii. Book of Life (15) #
B. Determining Facts (12) “according to their works” #
i. Works CANNOT SAVE #
Eph. 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
• Little boy picks weeds with a few flowers for grandma.
Is. 64:6 ¶ But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.
ii. Works condemn! #
• Every person has a deep, dark secret about their life, that they don't want anyone to know... that is what is going to be revealed!
• Not a scale to determine if your good out weights the bad, it is undeniable indisputable evidence you are a unrepentant sinner without a pardon.
III. Final Sentence (14-15) #
• The only time that they will get out of hell, is to stand before God, and give an account of their sins, find out they truly are guilty, and be cast into the lake of fire.
A. Detainment in Hell (13) “death and hell” #
• Most modern Bibles translate this word, Hades
• Hades is a Greek word, brought into the English Language... hell has been part of the English Language since the 1600's!
◦ No one runs around saying, "Go to hades", "till all hades breaks loose", "until hades freezes over
i. Bible evidence (Lu 16:23-24) - Torments! #
• Hell is a place of torments, flame.
• The King James Translators got it right, and a bunch of modernists want to correct them!
B. Death (14) #
i. First death is physical #
• Those who are not saved, will absolutely face death
◦ Some saved will be raptured out before death!
• Death, especially for those who have no assurance of eternity, is a frightful thing! - It is alarming!
◦ Preparation for death must be made while you are still alive!
◦ Death is NOT THE END OF LIFE! - so much for RIP.
ii. Second is Permanent #
• The first death, you only get a short reprieve, to stand before God.
• Second death... forever
