Pitfalls of Perversity #

Pro 5:1-6

Intro.

What God has made, Satan has imitated, cheapened, and ruined. (Peru knockoffs) When God was done with creation, the Bible says, “And God saw everything that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.”

We live in a perverse society. Perversity is regularly propagated by the TV, internet, radio, billboards, magazines, and on the streets. A godless society, will naturally cave to the fleshly sinful desires of man. One of those desires is perverse pleasures of the flesh.

The advertisement industry figured out if you use the natural desires of men and women, they will watch the ads. What they failed to realize, is that it objectifies people, and sensuality, and perverts society. Because their god is money, that really doesn’t matter to them.

Turn to Romans 1:22, Our passage in Proverbs primarily deals with a man drawn away by sensual temptation of a woman. God never intended man to be with man, or woman with woman. The Bible says:

“Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.” (Romans 1:22–27)

I. Admonition about a strange woman #

A. Concealment (6,3) #

Moveable - “ways are moveable"

Moveable, in that she cannot be traced. She doesn’t want to be followed, or known.

It is difficult to find or follow people that don’t want to be tracked.

Unpredictable - “thou canst not know them"

You may think you have it all figured out, YOU DON’T!

You will get burnt!

B. Condemnation - (4) Wormwood & Twoedged Sword #

Wormwood in the Bible is always used in a metaphorical sense. It stands for the judgement of God!

a) “And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters; And the name of the star is called Wormwood: and the third part of the waters became wormwood; and many men died of the waters, because they were made bitter.” (Revelation 8:10–11)

Twoedged Sword - always represents the Bible

I cannot stand and condemn this as sin because of who I am, sin is
condemned by the Word of God!

b) “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12)

The Bible will clearly identify sin, and discern your thoughts, and
intentions!

C. Conclusion (5) #

Early Death

Destructive in nature!

a) “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 6:23)

b) “Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.” (James 1:15)

Eternal Death -

c) “And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.” (Revelation 20:14)

II. Admonition about losses (7-11) #

A. Stay away! (7-8) #

  1. “Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.” (2 Timothy 2:22)

Stay away from pornography, stay away from woman that don’t respect themselves.

Stay away from filthy magazines, movies, social media, the internet.

    It pollutes your mind!

    a) “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” (Philippians 4:8)

Keep your heart! Guard your eyes! Keep your mind clean!

    b) Pro 4:23 - “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.”

B. Loss of honour (9) “give thine honour unto others" #

Honour is something of a lost concept in our society.

Honor - high respect, great esteem

When engaged in sexual sins no matter how secret you may think it is, there is a loss of honor.

  1. Pro 5:21 For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and he pondereth all his goings.

    Testimony to uphold.

C. Loss of years (9) “thy years unto the cruel" #

Sin will take you farther than you want to go, sin will keep you longer than you want to stay!

You think, it is only for a moment, no, it is for a lot longer than a moment! Sin entangles, and traps you, and holds you hostage!

Samson, the strongest man, was bound by sexual sins

Solomon, the wisest man, was lost by sexual perversities.

David, the man after God’s own heart, was caught up in sexual sin, committed murder to cover it up!

Don’t think you are an exception.

D. Loss of wealth - 10"strangers be filled with thy wealth" #

Sin is NEVER FREE! There is always a hidden cost!

Money, childcare, courts, children are meant to be a blessing. However outside the bounds of marriage, it becomes a problem. Who’s child is it? Who get’s to raise the child?

  1. “It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep. Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.” (Psalms 127:2–3)

E. Loss of work - 10 “thy labours be in the house of a stranger” #

Would you go to a stranger’s house, and remodel his house at your expense for free? Even if he paid for it, the amount of work you would put in, would be lost!

Sin cost!

F. Loss of Joy - 11 - “mourn at the last” #

Sin is pleasurable for a season… but at the end, it is sad!

When you realize all that has been lost, it is not worth it.

  1. “Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.” (Psalms 51:12)

Sin had broken him, left him sad, and broken.

G. Loss of health - 11 “thy flesh and thy body are consumed” #

There are some sexually transmitted diseases that stay with you for the rest of your life!

Aids epidemic! More than 1 million people in the USA are diagnosed with AIDS!

"The U.S. government investment in the domestic response to HIV has risen to more than $28 billion per year.” - www.hiv.gov/federal-response/funding/budget

III. Admonition about regrets (12-14) #

You will regret:

A. Ignoring the Instruction - #

The Bible clearly teaches about this!

B. Ignoring the Reproof - #

Reproof - Vocal warning!

Preaching - We preach about it, not because I like it, but because it is a legitimate concern, and clearly warned about in the Bible

Teaching -

Warning from a parent, friend

C. Ignoring the Voice of my teachers! #

So many people give warnings!

D. In the right, in the wrong! (14) #

This is the saddest verse! Someone under the very sound of my voice, would ignore all the warning, and continue in their wickedness!

  1. “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9)
