Introduction

Bob Jone’s senior said, “Do right till the stars fall!” – We need people who are dedicated to doing right, living right!

Prov. 14:34 ¶ Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.

Thank the Lord for our Country, and the liberty we have. Our country is not perfect, but it is literally the best country in the World. It was founded on God’s Word! Our founding Father’s unashamedly quoted the Bible!

Our country is not perfect, but wrongs are being made right, and little by little, things are changing. Keep praying, keep voting, keep standing for Righteousness! Don’t give up the fight!

I. Debate about Jesus (Mark 6:14-16) #

A. Herod’s thoughts – John the Baptist (14, 16) #

1. Guilty conscience! #

2. Political leaders rarely have good discernment concerning spiritual things. #

3. Herod thought John had risen from the dead! #

B. Religious crowd (15) #

  • Malachi 3:1, 4:5 talk about Elijah coming.
  • Many religious people have a form of godliness, but really know nothing of Scriptures!

John 5:39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.

C. Heard of Him (14) #

1. We should be proclaiming Jesus! #

Rom. 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. 14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?

2. Saved, are responsible! #

II. Detainment of John (Mark 6:17-20) #

A. Sin #

1. Marriage seeking wealth and power. #

2. John was a political prisoner “for Herodias’ sake” #

3. John was imprisoned for doing right! #

B. Stand of John #

1. Preacher of righteousness #

2. Selfishness doesn’t acknowledge sin. (19) #

  • She refused to acknowledge her sin!

3. Spineless man (Herod) (20) #

Prov. 28:1 ¶ The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion.

III. Defilement of Sin (Mark 6:21-26) #
