Doctrine of the Holy Bible #
Introduction
Last week we noted that the church is responsible for doctrinal purity.
1 Timothy 3:15 — But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.
We noted in 1 Timothy 4, there is 1. Bad Doctrine, 2. Good Doctrine, Then we must 3. Attend to doctrine (take responsibility to teach) and 4. Continue in Doctrine, not change, not be swayed.
- The Scripture, 2. The Godhead (Trinity), 3. Jesus Christ, 4. The Holy Spirit, 5. Sin, 6. Salvation, 7. The Church, 8. Baptism, 9. The Lord’s Supper, 10. End Times, Dangerous modern movements - 11. NEO-Orthodoxy, 12. Neo-Evangelicalism, 13. Ecumenical Movement, 14. Tongues, Recovering Fundamentalism, Calvanism.
There are similarities in the passages we are looking at, last week emphasizing doctrine, the Bible says, “in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils…” (1 Tim 4:1) We find a similar truth in our text here: “in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves….” (2 Tim 3:1). There is a war being waged on core fundamental doctrinal truths. That is why we must look at them and be “put in remembrance of these things…. nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine…” (1 Tim 4:6)
The first and most fundamental or foundational truth of the doctrines is the Word of God!
Doctrinal Statement: The Bible, consisting of the Old and New Testament only, is the verbal plenary inspired Word of God. The King James Bible is the preserved Word of God for the English speaking people. It is the sole authority on matters of faith and practice.

• If I have a wind instrument (flute, trumpet, Clarinet, trombone etc) it may look pretty, but absolutely nothing comes of it, until the musician breathes through it! The sound that comes out is the musicians… but the unique shape of the instrument makes a unique sound, but the melody is unchanged!
◦ The messenger has variance, the message is exactly what God wants it to be!
