Mark 4:35-41

Introduction

Jesus has gone from teaching some foundational lessons to the disciples to a life lesson that would be etched in their mind. I have logged thousands of hours of classroom classes. Listening to messages, listening to lessons, messages, teaching, etc. Those are necessary, but there are some lessons in life, that are etched permanently in my mind. The lessons we have lived through usually make the deepest impression on our life, if we learn from them.

The disciples would not soon forget this lesson.

I. The Word Given (35) #

“Let us pass over unto the other side.”

A. God Means every Word! #

1. God doesn’t lie! #

Titus 1:2 In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;

2. God emphasized the importance of “every word” #

Prov. 30:5 Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.

Matt. 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

B. Problem is our side! #

1. They forgot in the midst of the storm #

II. The Wind storm (37) #

The storm was not announced!
These were experienced fishermen!

A. Storms will come #

God’s Words: “Let us pass over unto the other side”

B. God uses storms! #

James 1:2 ¶ My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; 3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.

III. The Work and Worry (37) #

A. From work to worry #

1. They start prepping #

2. They were not able to keep up! #

B. The Sleeping Saviour! #

1. God was with them #

1Sam. 15:17 And Samuel said, When thou wast little in thine own sight, wast thou not made the head of the tribes of Israel, and the LORD anointed thee king over Israel?

IV. The Waking (38) #

A. They went to the right person! #

B. God is able to help! #

Luke 1:37 For with God nothing shall be impossible.

V. The Wonder (39) #

A. Calms storms #

Psa. 107:29 He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still.

Psa. 89:9 Thou rulest the raging of the sea: when the waves thereof arise, thou stillest them.
