The God of gods #
Psalm 82:1-8
Introduction
We have a Psalm of rebuke, or admonition. Not all Psalms or songs are that of praise to God, but can as we have before us, be a psalm/song of rebuke, or admonition.
I. The Authority of God (1, 8) #
A. His Prominence #
- Demonstrated in two ways:
1. “standing” - #
2. “he judgeth” – He has the final say! They ultimately must stand before Him! #
B. The People “among the gods” #
1. Clarification of context (v6) #
- The word “gods” is not used to indicate a deity, but rather signifying the authority given to man. Verse 6-7 make that very clear.
Rom. 13:1 ¶ Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.
Psa. 62:11 God hath spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongeth unto God.
C. His Position (8) #
