The Dead Church #

Revelation 3:1-6

Introduction

The Spirit certainly speaks of the Holy Spirit of God. The idea, is that Jesus has life! The Spirit would certainly represent life, that is why in Eph 2:1-2

Eph. 2:1 ¶ And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; 2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:

Psalm 30

Praise the Lord #

Psalm 30:

Introduction

You will notice at the top of your Psalm, “A Psalm and Song at the dedication of the house of David.”

We are prone to think immediately that this is a Psalm given after David finished building his house. I would not discredit that idea, but several others believe it could have been when David bought the threshing floor of Ornan (1 Chro 21, or 2 Sam 24, or Araunah), and stopped the plague in Israel. They believe it to be a Psalm of praise issued in faith to the future building of the Temple, which happened on the site David purchased

Romans 12:1

Beseeching #

Romans 12:1

Intro.

In the previous chapters Paul has been teaching very important Theological truths. He has spared no expense of ink in detailing each argument, and laying to rest many side arguments that may come to mind. He now shifts gears completely, and dives into a very practical section of the book. He is careful to transition, based on the truth of the Theological arguments he has presented.

Forget Not #

Pro 3:1-6

Intro.

I have been taking the passages one paragraph at a time. Usually the paragraph tends to have a fluid theme that runs through it. There are many things that tie these verses together, and yet at the same time, it is necessary to treat each of these topics on their own. The depth of thought that runs through each one, certainly merits a message in and of itself. We could entitle it the “Not” series.

Mark 3:8

A Seaside Multitude #

Mark 3:8-12

Introduction

In our last message entitled the “Sabbath Showdown” out of Mark, 3:1-8 we covered

I. The Crippled Man (withered hand) II. The Compassionate man (Jesus) III. The Contentious Men (Pharisees) IV. The Converted Men

In keeping with the continuity of the passage, we note that Jesus had left the synagogue having clearly put the Pharisees in their place. He went to the seaside. One cannot hardly read the passage without taking notice of the word “multitude” that shows up in verse 7, 8, and 9 that it is a prominent point of the passage. There is emphasis in the crowd.

Psalm 31

Be of Good Courage! #

Psalm 31:1-5

Introduction

The title of the message for tonight is taken right from the last verse of the Psalm, Be of Good Courage. It is easy to be discouraged. With the day and age we live in, we can certainly be discouraged. With the circumstances of life at times, we can be discouraged. That is why the Psalms are suck a blessing to us! David too suffered from discouragement. He certainly had bad days, and days in which he was literally attacked, betrayed, slandered, and run out of his own kingdom (before he was king and even after he was king!

Romans 12:4

One Body #

Romans 12:4-13

Introduction

After beseeching believers to present themselves to the Lord, the topic is now turned to the body of the believers.

I. Unity of Body (4-5) #

A. Parts #

1. Membership - in order to be a member, you must be 1. Saved, 2. Scripturally Baptized (or from a church of like faith). #

2. One body - We are talking about one local church here. Many people refer to the "body" of believers #

  • God purchased the church with his blood!

Acts 20:28 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.

Let Not #

Pro 3:1-6

Intro.

Take advantage of the opportunity! At the risk of sounding like a salesman, Solomon, is saying, when the opportunity of Mercy and Truth come knocking on your door, don’t refuse, don’t turn it down!

I. Let not! - Mercy & Truth (3) #

II. Grab hold of Mercy and truth! (write on heart) #

A. Mercy - not getting what we deserve. #

Mercy is not letting sin slide, but rather a recognition of that sin, judgment cast, and the sentence remitted or forgiven.

Mark 3:13

Close to God #

Mark 3:13-21

Introduction

We are going to look at those who are close to God. Man throughout history is trying to get close to God. There is only one way to get close to God!

Jesus is constantly interacting with people in his life time. The difference between how Jesus interacts, and how we interact, is he never made a mistake! His interactions were intentional. Everything written in the Bible about the life of Jesus is deserving of study, and learning! He provided for us a perfect example in every area of life.

Psalm 32

Dealing with the Ugly Monster of Sin #

Psalm 32:1-11

Introduction

This Psalm opens up with a bold statement that we will consider and look at more at the end of the chapter than we will at the beginning. There are some great statements in the opening that should be considered.

This Psalm primarily deals with sin. This is something that EVERY believer can associate with, because as saved believers, we should NOT enjoy sin, and yet we are not, and will not be sinless until we get to heaven! So it is a topic we are all familiar with!
