Purpose in Life #

Psalm 96

Introduction

Many people go through life, living for what they can get out of life. The problem comes, when you have acquired all you can get out of life, and are still left unfulfilled! When you have accumulated wealth, and you realize that doesn’t bring joy. When you finally have gotten that relationship you have sought after, and realize it isn’t fulfilling. When you get that popularity, but still have the empty feeling inside. When you have risen to the top of your company, or what ever it is you are trying to gain power in, and realize once you have arrived, it is not as satisfying as you thought it would be.

Reminder to God’s People #

Psalm 97

Introduction

Verse 1 as is often the case in the Psalms, gives us the scope, and idea of this Psalm. It introduces Jehovah God, as well as the earth beneath him. Gladness is mentioned in this verse, but then is not brought up again until verse 6. Matter of fact, there is quite a contrast, because doom, gloom, and judgement are mentioned in the next 4 verses, before rejoicing is again brought up. In reading that again, it becomes evident, and noticeable.

The Plan for Praise #

Psalm 98

Introduction

As I studied it, and outlined it, everything seemed so familiar, and in glancing back, I was able to see the resemblance of Psalm 95. Clearly it is in the Bible twice, and so apparently God thought we needed it twice. The outline is not the same, as the passage is not the same. There are similarities, but it’s layout is indeed unique.

God’s Family Plan #

Mark 10:1-16

Introduction

I have titled the message God’s Family Plan, not because God is specifically outlining the idea for a family, but the entirety of this passage, is so necessary for Family matters, that I have dubbed it, God’s Family Plan. We literally have three separate instances that are back to back that I have stitched together for one message to help families.

Proper Praise #

Psalm 100

Introduction

We have a very well known Psalm. I want to give us some thoughts out of this Psalm. It is a Psalm rightfully titled, a Psalm of Praise. We often think of praise as that of only words. If praise is only words, we end up with empty lip service, and not fully satisfying praise to the Lord.

Isaiah 29:13 - “13 Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:”

Attention #

Revelation 10:1-8

Introduction

We have already looked at the seven seals. We have looked at 6 of the 7 trumpets. If you remember, the seals, the first 6 are listed in chapter 6, and then in chapter 7 is a parenthetical statement. It is a pause in the sequence of events, and gives us relevant facts about some of the people, that will be dealt with going forward. We have much the same situation here in chapter 10. We have looked at 6 of the trumpets sounding, and prior to the 7th, we have chapter 10 as a parenthetical statement that is going to give us some relevant facts about places. All of this takes place during the tribulation period. The rapture of the saved happened right at the beginning of chapter 4. We do not see reference to the church (body of believers) after chapter 4.

Lessons from Proverbs 10 #

Proverbs 10

Intro.

Up until now, we have been in the introduction to the Book of Proverbs. The word “proverb” is defined as

1. A short sentence often repeated, expressing a well known truth or common fact, ascertained by experience or observation; a maxim of wisdom. (Webster’s American Dictionary 1828)

Each proverb stands on it’s own. Think of them as individual ponds of water, not a continuous flow of a river. We are going to try to take larger themes from each chapter to keep us moving through the book. We could spend the next 5 years going through every verse, but we have a whole Bible to study.

Psalm of Practice #

Psalm 101

Introduction

This is an incredible Psalm. A lot of the wisdom of the Proverbs was most certainly taught to Solomon by his father David. And ultimately God multiplied that wisdom for Solomon.

We find a good outline for managing a family, a business, a kingdom, or government. This Psalm has great advice and help for us.

David was considered a man after God’s own heart, and we see a strong sense of purity in this psalm. We see the principles in which David desired to guide his kingdom. David was not perfect, but he certainly had good desires.

What to do when you are overwhelmed #

Psalm 102:1-12

Introduction

The Psalmist is overwhelmed here, but not because of a personal problem. It would seem in looking at it all, the Psalmist is concerned primarily with a national issue.

It would do us good, to be so heartbroken, grief stricken over the sin of our country, that we had this kind of a heart!

Earthly Riches over Eternal Riches #

Mark 10:17-27

Introduction

The greatest problem in America, is her wealth. God has blessed our nation, and we thank our veterans for their service, that have bought our freedom! God has blessed our nation, because they have were founded on Bible Principles! Because they were founded on Bible principles, they have backed Israel! God has blessed our country because of those two things!
