Psalm 71:1-2

Introduction

We truly have a wonderful Psalm before us. This is a great Psalm, because we have a message of a Seasoned Saint who has seized onto God as his source of strength and salvation, and has not slipped. There is a message for the young, a message for the middle aged, as well as a message for the senior saint! The Secret to success is ultimately unveiled in this Psalm, so lets stop and consider the wisdom of God’s aged saint helping us tonight.

Change in Perspective #

Psalm 73:1-3

Introduction

Most of the Psalms we have dealt with have been written by David. We are now given a series of Psalms that are ascribed to Asaph. It is unclear wether they were all written by Asaph, or simply given to his care to sing them. According to Scripture he did both of those things.

2 Chronicles 29:30 Moreover Hezekiah the king and the princes commanded the Levites to sing praise unto the LORD with the words of David, and of Asaph the seer. And they sang praises with gladness, and they bowed their heads and worshipped.

A Prayer of the Persecuted #

Psalm 74:12

Introduction

This is a Prayer of the Persecuted. The first part of the Psalm very clearly presents the difficulty and problems the Psalmist is facing. This is not just outward, personal, but this is a serious persecution in which the Temple is destroyed. It is very likely a prophetic Psalm looking to the time when the Babylonians come in a burn the temple. There is certainly reference to that in 7-8.

A Crumb of a Miracle #

Mark 7:24-30

Introduction

What is a crumb? A crumb is not thought of as anything grand. Matter of fact, we would consider them dirty, annoying, and brush them off the table, collect them in our hand, and throw them away. No one, asks for a box for crumbs. They are pitched without thought. We have a crumb of a miracle here in Mark 7. But the crumb made a difference to this woman and her daughter. The smallest of God’s miracles, is life changing for some!

Positioned by God #

Psalm 75:1-10

Introduction

This Psalm is filled with so many significant verses. I have referenced Ps 75:6-7 many times in messages. It opens with a bang of thanksgiving, and it closes with the same sort of continued praise!

There is no way to know for certain, but Matthew Henry states that this Psalm may have been when David was made king after Saul’s reign. I find it fits well, and will look at it in that context, we do not know for certain.

Warnings #

Pro 7:6-10

Intro.

Solomon here uses a story to illustrate what he has just warned about.

This very scene unfolds night after night, it is ageless, and continues to take place. You CANNOT relegate this to being old fashioned, in 2019, I can promise you this same exact scenario takes place all around the world.

Solomon here illustrates the story from a young man’s perspective, but you could reverse the rolls, and find the same to be true. The application goes both ways.

Victory with God #

Psalm 76:1-12

Introduction

We have a victorious Psalm before us tonight!

Romans 8:37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

As Christians we are on the winning side! Not every battle is going to go our way, not every day is going to be a great day, but understand, the war, is already won through Jesus Christ! In the end, we win!

Mark 7:31

Deaf man Healed #

Mark 7:31-35

Introduction

A couple of interesting things about this passage. This miracle is not recorded in the other Gospels. It is unique to the Gospel of Mark.

Jesus traveled quite a bit, it is estimated about 60 to 70 miles traveling. That would be up to 3-4 day trip of walking every day. The Bible doesn’t explain to us the details about the traveling of Jesus, but that is a lot of walking.

Talking to God #

Psalm 77:1-3,

Introduction

There is an old song that says, Just a little talk Jesus makes it right! God is a living person. We often turn to another person. God sets there ignored, and He is the one that can actually do something about our situation! He is the one that actually has the power to solve the problem!
