Psalm 1:1-6

I. His Awareness! (1)

A. Listening “counsel of the ungodly”

i. Be careful of who you get counsel from!

ii. Be careful of where you get education! - Children’s education

iii. Be careful of the movies, and entertainment!

iv. He isn’t interested in the worldly philosophies, theories, and ways.

B. Looking “standeth in the way of sinners”

i. Hanging around observing –

ii. Observing because of intrigue

C. Living “sitteth in the seat of the scornful”

II. His Attention (2)

A. Delights “his delight is in the law of the LORD”

B. Dwells “doth he meditate day and night.”

i. It is not just a highlight of his day, it is his day!

ii. Day – during the day, think about the Word of God

Psa. 46:10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

iii. Night – allow God to permeate your thoughts.

III. His Award (3)

A. Purposefully planted “planted by the rivers”

B. Placed by water “by the rivers of water”

C. Productive “bringeth forth his fruit”

D. Prosperous “shall prosper”

IV. The Alternative (4-5)

A. Service “the chaff which the wind driveth away.”

i. Chaff – anything of a comparatively light and worthless character, the refuse part of anything.

ii. Driveth away

B. Separation “shall not stand in the judgment” “in the congregation of the righteous.”

Rev. 20:11 ¶ And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.

John 3:19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

V. The Ally “the LORD knoweth the way”

A. Upright path!

B. Ungodly path
