1 Tim 4:6-16
I. Instruct them in Doctrine
“put the brethren in remembrance” (6)
A. Terrible doctrine!
Matt. 16:12 Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.
Eph. 4:14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;
B. True Doctrine
2 Tim 2:2 – And the things that thou has heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.
II. Importance of Doctrine! (1 Tim 4:13)
“give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine”
A. Doctrine defines what you believe

III. Identification of Doctrine (1 Tim 4:1)
Titus 1:9 Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.
