So I don’t want you to think we are getting everything out of
this passage that we can. As we read this, it is
often applied to young people, but it is certainly not exclusively for
young people. As we march through different stages in our life, there
are certainly times when we will face temptation such as is described
here. It would do us all well to pay attention to what is written, and
keep it in our heart to protect our way.

Romans 5:12

Explanation of Sin vs Salvation

Romans 5:12-17

Introduction

An Old Time preacher, Harry Ironside wrote this:

The moment a man is justified by faith he is also born of God. His
justification is, as we have seen, his official clearance before the
throne of God. His regeneration involves his introduction into a new
family. He becomes a part of the New Creation of which the risen
Christ is the Head. Adam the first was federal head of the old race.
Christ Risen, the Second Man and the Last Adam, is Head of the new
race. The old creation fell in Adam, and all his descendants were
involved in his ruin. The new creation stands eternally secure in
Christ, and all who have received life from Him are sharers in the
blessings procured by His cross and secured by His life at God's
right hand.

Romans 6:12

Deliverance from Sin

Romans 6:12-23

Introduction

As we continue through the book of Romans, we can see Paul is dealing
with “Sanctification”. If you
are truly born again, you are going to struggle with sin. Lost people do
NOT STRUGGLE with sin! It doesn’t bother them to get high, drunk, or
live a sinful life. They live that way on a regular basis, without
concern.

Some people have been taught certain things are morally wrong.
Therefore, they try not to do things, because they are smitten by their
conscience from what their mom and dad have taught them. But as society
decays, and normal slides, so does morality. Paul really covered that in
the first few chapters of Romans. Societal rules become a guide of right
and wrong.

Proverbs 2:10

February 13, 2019

Preserved from Corruption

Proverbs 2:10-

Intro.

My mom did a lot of canning when I was growing up. While these
very well can represent ages, they very well could stand for stages or
states in which a church may be.

Last week, we looked at Smyrna, as the Dependable Church, who stands
through persecution. It was pointed out to me afterwards, that even now,
the christians in Smyrna face persecution! As we see in this account, understand this man didn’t grow up
in these conditions. You have to imagine he was someones baby. We have
no real evidence, nothing to tell us about his past, so we are
speculating.

I call this extreme, because really this is a clear picture of the
extreme way sin can destroy a life completely. This man didn’t desire to
end up in this situation. Most people don’t desire to be addicted to
drugs, end up as alcoholics, or end up in prison. It is the extreme
detrimental effects of sin. It is like a snowball that starts small, and
collects as it rolls down a hill, it gets bigger, and at some point it
is out of control, and there is no humanly way of stopping it!

Proverbs 5:1

July 10, 2019

Pitfalls of Perversity

Pro 5:1-6

Intro.

What God has made, Satan has imitated, cheapened, and ruined. Perversity is regularly propagated by the
TV, internet, radio, billboards, magazines, and on the streets. A
godless society, will naturally cave to the fleshly sinful desires of
man. One of those desires is perverse pleasures of the flesh.

Mark 5:21 - Troubled Woman

Troubled Woman

Mark 5:21-34

Introduction

As we continue to “Look unto Jesus” our theme for the year. A short sentence often repeated, expressing a well known truth or
common fact, ascertained by experience or observation; a maxim of
wisdom. (Webster’s American Dictionary 1828)

Each proverb stands on it’s own. Think of them as individual ponds of
water, not a continuous flow of a river. We are going to try to take
larger themes from each chapter to keep us moving through the book. The Word quicken means to make alive, to revive, or to make alive in a spiritual sense. The flesh, and this world will bring sorrow! Living in the flesh will bring sorrow, as the Psalmist describes. The world often tries to drown that sorrow with alcohol. They try to hide from that sorrow with drugs, pleasure, and many other things. The problem is that all of those solutions are temporary, and only hide that sorrow for a short time. The only real hope, is turning to God, and being quickened, made alive by Him! Asking him to save us!

Mark 14:27 - Warning from God

June 14, 2026

Warning from God

Mark 14:27-31

Introduction

We are in the last days of Jesus. You may be aware of a well known baptist preacher who fell in sin. My friend Sam Robinson said this, “The pulpit has failed the pew, but the pew has also failed the pulpit.” It is a two way street. I’m not going to address a particular situation, but suffice it to say if you are in church for any length of time, you will find that people will fail you. Sometimes you will be very discouraged or hurt by those who fall. It will blindside you, you will never see it coming, and it will hurt. I have always said, the taller a tree grows the more damage is does when it falls. The more influence you have, the greater the disappointment that goes with it. It doesn’t matter if you know of the situation or not, there will be another in the news, and another. It is not new, and as long as Christ tarries his coming, it will not end.

Mark 15:1 - Jesus before Pilate

August 16, 2026

Jesus before Pilate

Mark 15:1

Introduction

We are up to the day of the crucifixion of Jesus. I have to
see a map, and really spend some time looking at a map to figure things
out.

Some people struggle with directions on a spiritual level, and are often
confused, and struggle with the right direction in their life. All the
verses we will look at this evening deal with the Way. Perhaps you ask
yourself, Which Way Should I Go? Many times we stand at a cross road in
our life, trying to figure out the best path to take. I hope tonights
message will help you, and encourage you to take the right path.

Proverbs 21 - Wickedness

August 25, 2020

The Wicked Way

Proverbs 21:27

Introduction

The word wicked or wickedness is used more frequently in the book of
Proverbs than any other book of the Bible. It is used 9 times in 6
verses in this chapter. It is a theme can cannot be missed in this
chapter.

I. I could not have planned, or picked a more timely passage. I don’t say that lightly or other than simply a statement of fact. God orchestrates things according to His will… and sometimes He very well changes our will to match His plan.

I. Falling or Failing (Pro 24:15-18)

A. Today, we are going to learn about God speaking to us!

I will never forget, I was in college, and working with kids in Jr. Church. A couple of the boys needed to go to the bathroom, so we walked to the main bathroom. When we got in there, there was a speaker in the bathroom, and you could hear the preacher in the main auditorium over the sound system. All of the boys got quiet and the preacher over the speaker was clear. One of those boys blurted out, “God is that you?” to the voice he heard over the speaker. I will never forget that boy asking that in the bathroom that day. The reality is God does want to speak to you, but he doesn’t speak today with an audible voice to use. He has given us all we need to know in his Word!
