There were a few times that David was
in the wilderness. While he was running from king Saul who was trying to
kill him, is probably the most notable, and longest time David was in
the wilderness. I do not believe that was the time that it was written,
because verse 11 reads, “But the king shall rejoice in God” I believe
that is written of himself, not of king Saul.

Psalm 92

June 18, 2025 - Wednesday

Reasons to Praise the Lord

Psalm 92:1-15

Introduction

This is a simply Psalm, that much like our last one, is very positive,
and encouraging. There are similarities, but it’s layout is indeed unique.

Psalm 100

September 10, 2025

Proper Praise

Psalm 100

Introduction

We have a very well known Psalm. I want to give us some thoughts out of this Psalm. It is a Psalm rightfully titled, a Psalm of Praise. We often think of praise as that of only words. If praise is only words, we end up with empty lip service, and not fully satisfying praise to the Lord.

Isaiah 29:13 - “13 Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:”

Psalm 103

October 22, 2025

Blessing the LORD

Psalm 103:1-5

Introduction

We are drawing to a close of book number 4 of the Psalms. These last few Psalms close with praise to God. Many Psalms are prayers, complaints, and crying to the Lord, these are more about praise God for who He is.

I. There are a lot of similarities in style between this Psalm and Psalm 103. They build to a great closing! These are powerful Psalms that are focused primarily on God! What a great focus! I cannot think of a greater place to focus our attention!
• While I was studying, I think I stumbled across a golden nugget in the verse 5:

Psalm 105

November 19, 2025

Give Thanks!

Psalm 105:1-12

Introduction

This is a long Psalm, and the second part of it is really the history of Israel. It is a great read, and I encourage you to re-read it after church, and see what is listed that God did for Israel.

However, I want to focus on the first half of the Psalm. The first half of the Psalm is the Education, whereas the second half of the Psalm is the Example. The first half Educates us on what we are to do, where the second half of the Psalm gives us a great Example of how God worked. It stands as an excellent example because it takes the history of the nation of Israel, how God gave them their land, then God sent Joseph ahead to make arrangements (17), to be there for preparation for Israel.

Psalm 108 - Pathway to Victory

December 31, 2025

The Pathway to Victory

Psalm 108:1-5

Introduction

I want to end the year on a high note. Being in church is always a blessing! It is not a chore, it is to be prioritized, because it is a blessing. Tonight, we will continue through the Psalms, but tonight’s Psalm gives us a Pathway to Victory.

Charles Spurgeon in his Treasury of David, points out this Psalm is actually pulled from two other Psalms to make one. Psalm 57:7-11 closely mirrors the first 5 verses of Psalm 108. It is often referred to as the triumphal entry. It was one of the only times that Jesus allowed public prominent praise of himself. Jesus certainly is worthy of worship, but he often did not allow it, and maintained a low profile as best as he could. Jesus did not come to be lifted up as King, but came as a sacrifice.

Mark 11:15-18 - Lessons from the Lord

February 22, 2026

Lessons from the Lord

Mark 11:15-18

Mark 11:12-33

Introduction

We have been going through the book of Mark on Sunday mornings, and we have gotten behind a little. Last time, we looked at the triumphal entry into Jerusalem. We are going to look at three lessons given by the Lord.

Psalm 113 - Triad of Praise

February 25, 2026

Triad of Praise

Psalm 113:1-9

Introduction

I’m not really a musician, but I know a little about music. Musical chords are generally made up of three notes that harmonize with each other and go together. They are called a triad. These are Psalms, and therefore songs, so I have entitled the message a “Triad of Praise” Three praises that harmonize with each other and create a good sounding harmony of praise to the Lord.

Psalm 115 - A Glimpse of God

April 15, 2026

A Glimpse of God

Psalm 115

Introduction

We have a great Psalm before us. It is one of the Psalms that ends in the phrase, “Praise ye the LORD” It most definitely was sung as a part of worship. It probably was a Psalm that was sung in the opening of closing of worship, and probably sung regularly. There are three notable things about this Psalm that I want to point out.

Psalm 118 - Victorious Psalm

May 13, 2026

Victorious Psalm

Psalm 118:1-5

Introduction

This is a victorious Psalm. Most believe David is the Psalmist, though no author is mentioned. It is a Psalm that was likely sung entering Jerusalem, singing to the Lord. It is likely written after David was established as King of Israel.

I’m really mentioning this as part of the introduction, because we have considered much of this ideas in the past, and I want to give them to you, but not focus upon them tonight.

Psalm 119:1 - Obedience Makes a Difference

May 20, 2026

Obedience Makes a Difference

Psalm 119:1-8

Introduction

Psalm 119 is broken up into 22 parts based on the Hebrew Alphabet. Just an interesting fact.

Each section consists of 8 verses, and each of those verses in the Hebrew language, would start with the corresponding letter, Aleph for this section. It would have been a great Psalm to teach to your children to learn the letters.

Revelation 19

July 2, 2023

Victory Celebration

Revelation 19

Introduction

There are three things that are clearly noted in this chapter. While the picture
is not wrong, that is a form of judgment, it is not quite complete
either.

In looking at Judgment in chapter 21, it paints quite a different
picture. Imagine yourself as the judge, now setting at the bench, and
every day, deciding what is right and what is wrong in life. Deciding
what you must do as a christian. - When you look at it in that light, it
paints a very ideal picture of what judgment is.

Proverbs 21 - Wickedness

August 25, 2020

The Wicked Way

Proverbs 21:27

Introduction

The word wicked or wickedness is used more frequently in the book of
Proverbs than any other book of the Bible.
