Summary:

Has God preserved His Word?

Before discussing differences between Spanish Bible versions, we must first answer an even more fundamental question:

What does the Bible say about itself?

In this episode, we examine several key passages that speak directly about the preservation of Scripture, including:

Proverbs 30:5-6

Psalm 12:6-7

Matthew 5:18

Revelation 22:18-19

These passages emphasize that:

Every word of God is pure. God’s words are not to be added to. God’s words are not to be taken away. God has promised to preserve His words.

Summary:

The groundwork has been laid. Now we finally begin examining actual Bible verses. In this episode of the Spanish Bible Podcast, we leave the historical background and begin looking directly at the biblical text. Our first example is Matthew 5:22, where the phrase “without a cause” becomes an important textual issue. We compare:

• King James Bible (KJV)

• English Standard Version (ESV)

Summary:

In this episode of the Spanish Bible Podcast, we examine two passages where the underlying Greek text makes a significant difference between the King James Bible and modern Critical Text Bibles—and where the Reina-Valera 1960 follows the Critical Text reading.

First, we look at 1 Peter 2:2. The King James Bible reads:

“as newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby.”

Summary:

This episode of The Spanish Bible Podcast examines the issue of hell in the Spanish Bible, with particular attention to the Reina-Valera 1960. The King James Bible uses the word hell in both the Old and New Testaments. In the Old Testament, the word is translated from the Hebrew Sheol, while several Greek words are translated as hell in the New Testament, including Hades. But what happened to the word hell in the Spanish Bible? In this episode, we look at the change made in the Reina-Valera 1960, where the translators removed infierno from the Old Testament and instead used the transliteration Seol for the Hebrew word Sheol. We also examine the New Testament, where Hades was used in places where the earlier Reina-Valera had translated the word as infierno. Luke 16:23 receives particular attention because it is one of the clearest passages describing a man suffering in hell. The episode also compares this approach with modern English Bible versions and discusses the claim that these changes affect the clarity of biblical doctrine. Finally, the episode introduces the Reina-Valera Gómez as a Spanish Bible that retains the word infierno rather than replacing these occurrences with the transliterations Seol and Hades. #SpanishBiblePodcast #SpanishBible #ReinaValera1960 #KingJamesBible #Hades #Hell #Seol #Transliteration #BibleVersions
