The Defiled Church

Introduction
We are going to look at one another state of the church. While these
very well can represent ages, they very well could stand for stages or
states in which a church may be.
Last week, we looked at Smyrna, as the Dependable Church, who stands
through persecution. It was pointed out to me afterwards, that even now,
the christians in Smyrna face persecution! So, while it is very popular
to define these as ages, they also can be a status of current churches.

Introduction
I have always advocated that we should live our life in a fashion that
is pleasing to God. If you stop and think about it, many times, people
are looking for acceptance, approval and admiration. They want
acceptance, approval and admiration from friends. They want acceptance,
appr., admir. from family, they want aaa from neighbors. After all, if
everyone else accepts, approves, and admires what you are doing, it must
be good, and you must be a good person!

Romans chapter 8, is truly a great chapter for every believer. The
chapter is ended, recapping some of the mountain peaks of the chapter,
but asking a few questions that cause us to review the great truths he
has given us. It is a highlight reel of some of the best truths given to
us in Salvation.

- The if is not a conditional, he has clearly laid out the fact that God
is for us in this chapter. We are adopted, we are joint heirs with
Christ. The Holy Spirit makes intercession for us… HE is for us.

The Defiant Church

Revelation 2:18-29
Christ - the “Son of God”, eyes like unto a flame of fire (judgement),
feet like brass,
Eyes like unto a flame of fire - judgement
feet are like fine brass - righteous
God’s judgement is righteous.
God’s judgement in this portion, can seem harsh to us, but it certainly
is not. It is just. We have a very skewed sense of right and wrong, and
tolerate much more wickedness than God does.

Psalm 27:1-14
Introduction
It is very possible this Psalm was written while David was a young man,
placed in Saul’s kingdom. After he had killed Goliath, and Saul’s
jealousy was unleashed on him. It is a bold Psalm, that opens with the
idea of his confidence being placed squarely on God! When you consider
the difficulty in David’s life, his hardship, his trials, it makes his
faith and confidence that much sweeter.

Romans 9
Introduction
As you go through the Bible, there is a lot to learn. One of the many
things that is learned, is how the author writes. The Books of 1st and
2nd Corinthians were very direct, and straightforward. As he says to
them,
1Cor. 3:2 I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye
were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able.
