Proverbs 14
Intro.
Ways, way
I. Upright way (2)

Uprightness - honesty; integrity in principle or practice; conformity to

A. Lesson of David!
#
God appears to Solomon and offers whatever he wants:
“And Solomon said, Thou hast shewed unto thy servant David my father
great mercy, according as he walked before thee in truth, and in
righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with thee; and thou hast
kept for him this great kindness, that thou hast given him a son to
sit on his throne, as it is this day.” (1 Kings 3:6)

Jesus Celebrates Passover
#
Mark 14:12-17
Introduction
We left off last time with Judas already going to the chief priests and conspiring to betray Jesus. In his mind he had already decided this was the path to take. There was still time to turn around, he had not actually done it, only committed to doing it. We find the disciples after that in one of the most close knit, intimate times, when the disciples are with Jesus for one of the last times. Every one of them is gathered.

Warning from God
#
Mark 14:27-31
Introduction
We are in the last days of Jesus. The disciples are about to pass some of the most difficult trials in their life. Jesus has warned them, but they simply didn’t understand.
I. Offenses will come (Mark 14:27)
#
- Jesus is the perfect example! He never sinned, nor did wrong!
- Offend - 3. to cause (a person or group) to feel hurt, angry, or upset by something said or done
- Jesus is sinless, and didn’t do anything wrong, and the disciples were still offended!
i. Jesus would die
#
- Jesus had told the disciples, but they had it in their minds, He was the Messiah, and therefore would setup his reign now, they would not see the real plan.
- Jesus plan was to die, we see it clearly now!
John 1:29 — The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

Spiritual Vigilance
#
Mark 14:32-42
Introduction
We have a very serious passage before us. We are close to the end of Jesus life, and it is a serious time. Some seasons of our life are heavy times. This was a heavy time for the Lord. Countless arguments have been made about the prayer in the garden about what Jesus meant by his prayer “Let this cup pass from me.” I personally think it was probably the physical agony he woul dfeel as he suffered on the cross. Not that he didn’t want to die, but he didn’t want to die in the fashion that he would die. It was one of the most cruel, torturous, painful ways of dying.

Corrupted Trial
#
Mark 14:54-59
Introduction
We are at the Jesus was in the garden praying, the band of soldiers came, and took him in the middle of the night. There was no crowds, just the disciples and Jesus. The disciples all fled, leaving Jesus alone to be carried away.
We now find Jesus before the chief priests.
I. Corrupt Council
#
A. Leadership
#
i. Chief priests, elders, and scribes (53)
#
- This group was drunk with pride and arrogance
- They were so full of themselves, it caused them not to think straight.
ii. Intentions (55)
#
- “sought for a witness against Jesus to put him to death”
- This was not about justice, this was about revenge
- They were upset because they lost control of the narative.
B. Lying (56-60)
#
i. Lying
#
- It was obvious their witness didn’t agree
Exodus 20:16 — Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.

The Wrath of God
#
Revelation 15
Introduction
The word wrath is used 13 times in the Book of Revelation. The word
wrath doesn’t show up in the book of Revelation until chapter 6.
Consequently, that is when the tribulation period starts. The last time
we see the word wrath in the book of Revelation is chapter 19.
Our goal is not to run a word study on the word wrath tonight, but it is
relevant in these chapters that we are looking at. So it is good to have
a background understanding of it’s usage throughout Revelation.

What Does God See?
#
Proverbs 15:3
Intro.
What does God see? If we could be mindful of this in our life all the
time, it would be of great value and benefit to the way we live our life
from day to day.
I. Power of Words (1,2,3a)
#
A. Soft Words - (1)
#
Doesn’t imply a weak or compromising answer.
Jesus often gave a soft answer when dealing with the Pharisees who came
accusing Jesus in attempts to trap Him.

Failure
#
Mark 14:54, 66-72
Introduction
I covered this last week, but I felt impressed to re-visit this passage and cover it again. You may be aware of a well known baptist preacher who fell in sin. My friend Sam Robinson said this, “The pulpit has failed the pew, but the pew has also failed the pulpit.” It is a two way street. I’m not going to address a particular situation, but suffice it to say if you are in church for any length of time, you will find that people will fail you. Sometimes you will be very discouraged or hurt by those who fall. It will blindside you, you will never see it coming, and it will hurt. I have always said, the taller a tree grows the more damage is does when it falls. The more influence you have, the greater the disappointment that goes with it. It doesn’t matter if you know of the situation or not, there will be another in the news, and another. It is not new, and as long as Christ tarries his coming, it will not end.

God’s Way is Best
#
Proverbs 16:1-5
Intro.
LORD is used more times in this chapter of Proverbs than any other
chapter in the entire book of Proverbs. It is used 11 times. There is
probably something we should get from that.
Is. 55:6 ¶ Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:
Is. 55:7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.
Is. 55:8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.
Is. 55:9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Revelation 17:1-5
Introduction
One thing we notice in the book of Revelation, is that the Devil, Satan,
that old Dragon, is a great imitator of God. He mocks, and sets up his
own ways to mimic what God does. Notice the similarity of these two
verses:
Rev. 17:1 ¶ And there came one of the seven angels which had the seven
vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither; I will shew
unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many
waters:
