Romans 12:4

One Body #

Romans 12:4-13

Introduction

After beseeching believers to present themselves to the Lord, the topic is now turned to the body of the believers.

I. Unity of Body (4-5) #

A. Parts #

1. Membership - in order to be a member, you must be 1. Saved, 2. Scripturally Baptized (or from a church of like faith). #

2. One body - We are talking about one local church here. Many people refer to the "body" of believers #

  • God purchased the church with his blood!

Acts 20:28 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.

Romans 12:9

Keys to a Holy Life #

Romans 12:9

Introduction

In verses 9-21, we are going to look at Holy living! There are some very, very practical things given in the Word of God, that He expects us to adhere to. They are not written simply so we can read them and be aware of them. They are written, that we may PRACTICE them in our life.

Keys to a HOLY Life – These set the tone for the rest of this chapter. Verse 9 is a foundational truth for the rest of the verses that are given.

Romans 12:10

Church Checklist #

Romans 12:10-16

Introduction

Last week, we laid a foundation for this week. “Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.” (Rom 12:9). This week, I want to teach more through a check list that we should have in our life. He wrote in the beginning of the chapter concerning presenting our bodies. He then talked about being a part of a local new testament church. Our love is to be sincere. There is a simple list that I want

Romans 12:17

Be Not Overcome with Evil #

Romans 12:17-21

Introduction

The previous verses we looked at in this chapter really dealt with the believer and his interaction with other believers. I put together a check list for keeping track of your life. The verses we will look at tonight, really deal with living among a lost world that practices evil against you.

By way of introduction, the phrase, “Recompense to no man evil for evil.” sets the tone and theme for these verses. It opens with reference to evil, and closes with reference to evil, and tells us how to behave when faced with evil.

Romans 13:1

Christian & The Government #

Romans 13:1-7

Introduction

There are some that would take this passage, and completely separate it from the rest of the passages. It flows very well, as the Apostle was teaching about Christians and their conduct with one another, they then move on to Christians living with lost individuals, and he now continues with the idea of Christians and the state or government.

As we have noticed, the church in Rome consisted of Jewish christians, as well as gentile christians. This teaching applies to both of them. We having a Bible, are given much light into the jewish mindset. The jews were a tough people to govern, because they would not fall in line with the government over top of them. They gave the Roman empire great amounts of trouble. Why?

Romans 13:8

Practical Christian Living #

Romans 13:8-14

Introduction

Since Romans 12, we have been covering very practical aspects of christian living, where the rubber meets the road. It is so important to understand that. We first saw how christians should treat other saved christians. We looked at the christian and the world, as well as the christian and the government, we now will summarize all of it in our life and testimony.

Message to the Mature #

Romans 15:1-7

Introduction

Paul makes an appeal to the mature believer. He has just discussed how christians should deal with the world, how they should get along with one another, and he continues just a little more on this theme. He continues to build on the instruction he has given previously.

"We then that are strong" - Strong christians, here is your instruction! This is something for you!

Romans 15:8

Gentile Ministry #

Romans 15:8-13

Introduction

Paul has been advocating how God desires to save BOTH Jew and Gentile throughout his entire letter to the Romans. There appears to have been a great battle for the Gentiles to adhere to the OT religious laws and completely change their way of life. Jesus should and does change your life.
